Day-to-day life in Bali is marked by religion, which is a unique blend of Hinduism, Buddhism and the island’s traditional animism beliefs. Different from Hinduism practised in India or elsewhere in the world, Hinduism on the island is known as Agama Hindu Dharma.
Religion in Bali covers absolutely every facet of life, including architecture, dance, music and religious ceremonies. Temples and offerings are an important aspect of daily life on the island. Every household has a small temple, and every village has at least one important temple.
The Balinese believe in the existence of spirits and deities and that these supernatural forces can be influenced through offerings and rituals. Offerings (made of banana leaves, flowers and rice) are placed in temples and homes to thank the gods for their protection and blessings.
Religious ceremonies also play a key role in Balinese life. They are held regularly in temples and private homes. The ceremonies include dances, processions and offerings, and they seek to connect the community with their gods and deities.
Our villa is located in the heart of Bali, in a non-tourist village where you can enjoy the day-to-day way of life as well as the local passion for religion.
